I was asked to contribute to an article titled ‘People Management – A third of people to change retirement plans due to cost of living, study finds’
Research by Royal London had found that a third of people approaching retirement were thinking of changing their retirement plans. As Clare’s doctorate research was on workers aged over 50 recareering to a contemporary career, she was asked to comment on her perspective of this research.

In this article I talked about the need for HR to think about the changing career demands for older workers and to take action to respond to later life career needs.
Although from my research I felt that many people did look for careers to support their own search for meaning or to support their longer life’s, I acknowledge that the current financial challenges may influence many people’s decisions “Now the cost of living crisis is making people reconsider that, and the concept of traditional retirement is really being challenged”.
