People Management Magazine ‘problem solvers’

I was asked to contribute to ‘dear problem solvers’ section of the Spring 2023 People Management Magazine.


In this section,  readers send in a work issue or problem and three HR professionals are asked to respond. This months problem was about well being and mental health.


I was one of the people asked to respond and the article can be read here


Some of the key points I discussed were

  • role modelling well being practice

  • checking for signs of burnout within the HR team

  • Manage boundaries to help support well being of HR team and leaders

  • Consider what well being initiatives are in place

  • What well being initiatives can be achieved in terms of budgets, values, skills and time

  • create space to listen to what employees want and need

  • Use questionnaires or focus groups to research what support people need

  • approach with a curious mindset so that you are open to understanding what others may need
